Even for the pickiest of eaters- working up to even the first taste of a new food is often the hardest part. And giving them multiple opportunities to explore a new food through play, sensory games, expanding their palates by adding the new food to already fav recipes will enable healthy, happy and adventurous eaters!
So, let’s learn to love zucchini!
Make zucchini snakes:
Using a spiralizer, turn zucchini into snakes and let your kiddo slither them across their plates or through sauces like pesto or tomato sauce! Make it less about eating to start, and more about interacting with this new food!
Add zucchini to family fav recipes:
Zucchini is such a versatile veggie and can be added to both sweet and savoury recipes! Add zucchini to sweet recipes like muffins, cakes & loaves to savoury dishes like pasta! Or try making zucchini fries or zoodles for a gluten free, yummy and healthy pasta swap!
Thinking about growing a garden this year?
Be sure to plant zucchini! There’s truly nothing like the bounty of even a single zucchini plant. You’ll have zucchini for days- giving you lots of opportunities to explore it with your soon to be adventurous eater. Bonus: Starting a vegetable garden is a fun way for them to get their hands dirty, learn about the life cycle of a plant and teach environmental awareness!
Tip: Have an old sandbox? Use that as a beginner garden bed!
What does a vegetable wear to the beach?
A zucchini.
And that’s where I’ll be this weekend! Soaking up the sun on the beautiful West Coast and tending to my small but plentiful garden box!
